Stephen Harper.

For someone supposedly so smart he sure is dumb. He's been quoted as saying that he will allow a free vote on Same-Sex Marriage and if it goes the way he wants it too, his government will no longer allow SSM. To quote the bunny "What a Maroon" SSM is a dead issue, the churches can still preach hate, according to the Supreme Court, so their protected from being 'forced' to marry same-sex couples and with spousal benefits coming to same-sex couples this is a rights issue. I can't believe how casually the Conservatives trample peoples rights. The Liberals and NDP will use this to up the fear factor of the Conservatives. Randy White put his foot in it last time we had an election and now Harper has as well. Its amazing to me that with about 5000 same-sex weddings since the Ontario Court of Appeal ruled this affects about 10,000 people out of 31 million. Lets do the math thats 0.032258% of the population. It really doesn't affect you at all people!

Non-Confidence Vote.

The only thing that has changed since the vote in May is Jack Layton. At first he was the only one that 'got it' about how a Minority Government works. I guess his polling showed that if an election was held he would get the balance of power and could form a ruling coalition with the Liberals. He has the most to lose and the most to gain if the vote goes his way. Sadly, Harper and the Conservitives didn't really try to get anything done but bring down the Liberals. That is certainly their perogative but why would the opposition parties play in to the Liberals hands like this? We were going to have a vote in March or early April anyway. The economy is just now starting to falter and by Spring '06 its unhealthiness will be quite evident to everyone. With a poor economy the Liberals will be pounded but with a seemingly strong economic platform to run on I'm predicting a Liberal minority with the small possibility of a Liberal majority. If either of those scenarios happen Harper will have to go and maybe a moderate like McKay can take the helm and bring the Conservatives into the 21st century.

Gomery Commission.

Paul Martin's luck just keeps going on. He rolled some big dice and didn't get snake-eyes. We could've been heading into a Xmas election. I've been saying for a while that our PM could have credible deniabilty and Justice Gomery agrees, much to everyones surprise, including Martin's, I think. I really hope Jean Chretien has to finally face some music now. Gagliano's defence is essentially incompentence, so who was he getting instruction from? Jean Pelletier and Chuck Guite seem to be the two in charge. One of whom runs the PMO. Thats right, the former PM's Chief of Staff!?! Chretien has less credibilty trying to say he didn't know what was going on than Martin does. Some one is ultimately responsible and it's Jean Chretien. Mister "Whats a few million dollars to save the country?". He didn't get it then and he still doesn't get it now. Its a crime, sir and you should pay for it. Well, now on to the criminal trial.
