2005.

It has been a crazy weird, but good year for me personally and I believe the same for the planet in general. There are some hopeful signs amidst all the negativity. For all the natural disasters well, thats all choas theory over which we don't have a lot of control. Where we do have any control: Lets all endeavor to do better and thats all we can do. Have a great News Years Eve!

Xmas Campaign Break.

So far the PM has done okay, Harper and the Conservatives haven't been able to get traction on a issue to hurt the Liberals enough to give them any real chance to form the government, even a minority government. Layton and the NDP have managed to impress me actually, he's not so wiggy this time. Grading the first TV debates, I'd give Martin a C+, Harper a C-, Layton a B+ and Duceppes a C. I hope the Greens manage to do well this election because if you're running candidates in all the ridings you should be on the stage with the other 4 leaders. I think things will heat up in the new year with rhetoric and negative ads etc.

Mens Olympic Hockey Team.

I was surprised by Todd Bertuzzi being named to the Mens Olympic team. I was not however surprised by the negative reaction. Yes, it was a cheap shot, not the first one I've seen-- even by people in the hall of fame. Yes, it looks like Steve Moore's career is in jeopardy, it isn't the first career ending injury I've seen. Bertuzzi's been villified, charged, fined, missed the playoffs, missed the World Cup and convicted, he'll have to carry that incident around with him the rest of his career and rightly so, but he is an extremly talented player and he should be on the team. I think Wayne et al are making a statement by including him on the team and it is time for people to move on. I read an editorial in the paper today saying that the Canadian Olympic Commitee should bar him from going. C'mon is that something that should even be considered? Ben Johnson was allowed to compete 2 years after Seoul, no one said boo about Dany Heatly and he killed someone in a car crash. Unfortunately, Todd Bertuzzi will have to put up with the same nonsense when its time to put him in the Hockey Hall of Fame.
