Term Limits.

I don't know the outcome of the Venezualan Constitutional reform (scrapping term limits) referendum today, but I am for term limits for federal officials. My country doesn't have term limits and unfortunately leaders stay on for 1 election too many ( e.g. Chretien, Klein, WAC Bennent just off the top of my head). When Reagan let it be known he'd stay for third term, but the US system has term limits, at the time I was all "if the people want him as a leader so be it as long as they vote in him again' but that has changed. It isn't that some leaders aren't good enough to continue on but its about new leadership, new ideas and most importantly if by chance you elect an asshole everyone around the world will know when he's leaving ;). Russian Pres-- er Prime Minister Putin, in particular, doesn't 'get it' either. He could have gone out a hero, I personally think could have named himself Czar and the Russian people would've accepted it. Go do what former Presidents do: which is, pick a cause and use your influence to shift policy towards that. Now with the recent, as yet unnamed, economic downturn he'll be hounded out of politics with people spitting out his name. Where's the love now Vlad?

The love is at the end of the barrel of a gun. Putin and Bush = ex-KGB and CIA. That makes me wonder if the cold war ever really ended and if secret service agencies rule the world. No, I am not a conspiracy believing kind of guy, but we all know that the bag men behind political parties truly decide what the puppets/leaders say and do.

Some listen and read the party script well, while others don't after being elected - 'Stephen Harper and Gordon Campbell' come to mind.

What if World War 2 never really ended? If it just became an economic war (more so since the late 1990's then during the multiple proxy conflicts like Korea, Vietnam, Middle East or pick any country in Africa.

These proxy wars are the old saber rattling, lines-in-the-sand colonial territory grabbing/holding ways of the past.
These tactics and strategies have to stop. Hasn't the previous two thousand years taught us humans anything.

Or, we have to become a global society with a multi-cultural allowed theme for the different races. A lot of people are afraid of a united Earth because 'who do you allow to be the world's policeman'?

The United States of America seems to be the unelected cop but they can't afford to rule the world (no one country can afford it) and most likely wishes China, Japan,India, the European Union would assist more.

Maybe we should not look at one nation being the head-cop but reconsider the position as Firemen with guns. No matter which country you live in, everyone wants their home to be protected, especially if it is on fire.

It is time the United Nations got some teeth and FORCE members to provide financial and personnel to their causes or reduce a nations membership status from Gold to Bronze. I mean, we have to do something to change this planet from the war/military economy it is based upon, into a peaceful energy efficient world it can be.

As the Beatles once sang, "All we need is Love!" Well I add to that, "we also need the willpower to ensure the governments of the world function as a cohesive united team, instead of self interest dominated pockets of crazies with guns".

Hopefully it will happen within our children's childrens lifetime.
